What are the Main types of Notes?
Major types Notes are Floral, Oriental, Fresh and Woody.
What are top, middle, and base notes?
Top notes provide the first scent impression of a fragrance once it has been applied to the skin. They are usually lighter, more volatile aromas that evaporate readily. Their scent usually lingers for between 5 and 30 minutes. Middle notes, sometimes referred to as “heart notes”, make up the body of the blend. They may be evident from the start, but will usually take 10-30 minutes to fully develop on the skin. They are the notes that classify the fragrance family (floral, oriental, chypre, etc, see below). Base Notes are those with the greatest molecular weight. They last the longest, and are also important as fixatives, that is, they help slow down the evaporation rates of the lighter notes, giving the fragrance holding power. Common base notes include oakmoss, patchouli, woods, musk and vanilla.
What is the difference between Parfum, EDP, EDT, Aftershave and Cologne etc.?
These descriptions are used to identify the strength or concentration of oil in a fragrance. The concentrations can vary from fragrance to fragrance but here is an average guide. In general, the higher the percentage, the higher the price – but be aware that different concentrations (Perfume, or Eau de Toilette, etc.) may also have different notes in them, and not simply be weaker or stronger. So when you like a fragrance, we suggest you explore its different concentrations.
- Extract/solid perfume – 20-30%
- Perfume – 15-25 %
- Eau de Parfum (EDP) – 8-15%
- Eau de Toilette (EDT) – 4-8%
- Cologne (EDC) – 2-4%
What is a fragrance tester?
Testers are authentic, fresh and 100% original. They are used by department stores to promote a particular fragrance and therefore are the same quality as the retail product. Testers are made by the manufacturer and may come in a plain box or without the fancy cap.All testers are new and unused. Because there is no decorative packaging, we can purchase these items for less and pass the savings on to you.
Can perfume last all day?
Perfumes generally last four to six hours (or even longer), depending on the ingredients – and how dry your skin is. (Perfumes dissipate much faster on dry skins, or when the air is particularly dry.) From the moment you apply: the top notes, or ‘head’ notes last around 5-15 minutes before they disappear. The middle notes last from two to four hours, and make up most of the fragrance. The base notes(very occasionally referred to as ‘fond’) usually last from four to six hours.
Why do fragrances smell different on different people?
Body chemistry is unique. An individual's body chemistry will affect how different fragrance notes react to a person's skin. Skin has a natural smell and can be altered by things like hormonal changes, stress, mood, diet and medications.
Why does fragrance contain alcohol?
Alcohol makes the fragrance emanate from your skin and brings out the notes. It helps keep the ingredients blended together, and as it evaporates it lifts the scents into the air. Without alcohol, you would be the only person who knew you were wearing any fragrance at all.
